My story

Leo von Lebach is a fluffy 9-10 month old shepherd mix with a bright personality and an adorable “happy trot” that makes everyone smile. Medium in size at 22 inches at the shoulders, this young guy walks beautifully on leash—he stays in a nice heel position, checks in often, and walks along with an easygoing rhythm. He meets dogs well on leash and walks politely next to them with a wagging tail. Leo is smart, eager to please, and already knows many of his basic commands. He’s treat-motivated, attentive, and always ready to learn more. With his charming personality and quick mind, he’ll make a wonderful best friend and training buddy for someone who loves an affectionate and engaged companion. In playgroups, Leo is a great greeter and enjoys being with other dogs. He especially likes being around playful dogs and can be the happiest pup running around and being silly with his friends. (He and Willa are a cute duo if you are looking for a pair.) Leo has a mid-energy level, loves people, and had a good cat test. He’s ready to bring love, fun, and smarts to his forever home! Mixes are "softer" and somewhat more malleable. Exceptions can be made, however, for first-time adopters who show the confidence and leadership tendencies that purebreds will respect and respond to. Counselors have to use good judgment in assessing the attributes of the adopter, as well as of the dog. If you have doubts, get a second opinion from Robin or another experienced counselor.
