My story

Meet Fauna! A unique and resilient girl, born approximately in May of 2024, Fauna is incredibly confident, easygoing, and social. She loves to meet new people and will even answer your questions. She’s not high energy, but has learned to fetch and will bring you her toy mice to throw for her. She loves to hang out with her humans, interacting and just being part of the family. Fauna's dog-like nature extends beyond playing fetch. She is "unflappable" in the words of her current owner. She actually *loves* to get into her carrier, ride in the car, and go anywhere, even to the vet! So she has the potential to be your next adventure cat. Fauna is very very food focused, which is understandable given what she’s been through (see below). In her current home, Fauna is gentle with both the humans and the two resident kitties. The other two cats are seniors who really would prefer not to have any other cats around (even after a slow, careful introduction). They have even smacked Fauna, but this little sweetie doesn’t hold it against them—she just does her best to steer clear of them. We believe Fauna could do great in a home with other pets, but be aware that she will try to eat the other pets’ food. So if her adopter has pets who need a special diet or medicated food, she’ll need to be kept separate during mealtimes. Fauna is a true survivor. About 3 months ago, a lovely human was on a walk when she noticed a scrawny young cat following her. At some point, it became clear that the kitty couldn’t continue any farther. She was starving and in terrible condition. The Good Samaritan picked her up and carried her the rest of the way to her home, then took her straight to the vet, who found that Fauna had an upper respiratory infection, her ears were filled with crud, and she had muscle weakness in her back legs due to malnutrition. Fauna’s finder has nursed her back to health though Fauna does have chronic rhinitis. This means that she is likely to be a little sneezy and congested chronically or recurrently throughout her life. She will need regular medication and possibly an inhaler. However, she is an easy and willing patient and so worth it! This beautiful dilute tortoiseshell girl is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and negative for FIV and FeLV.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Fauna, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
