My story

Kit Kat is a petite little tuxedo lady. She has silky fur and loves to sleep on your lap. After a week she”s coming out of her shell and becoming more secure. Presently she is sitting on my lap getting periodic head and neck scratches. She is very much an absolute queen. She is 12 and her rules are her rules. Her markings on her face make her look a little short faced but it is an optical illusion. You will need to give her some time to get used to you but I feel she will be a sweet companion. But she does get overstimulated and you just have to respect her when she lets you know. She does take a few days to warm up to you,. She will be sussing you but and making sure you will follow her lead. With me, she started with the drive by body rubs on my legs or my hand but if I moved she seemed scared. On day three, the first time she leaned up against my chest and laid her head on my arm, she was happy unless I moved my fingers on my keyboard as it flexed a muscle in my arm. Then she gave me a little stop moving look. You have to pay attention to her body language, her tail speaks volumes. She likes petting when she likes it and gives you warnings when it is too much or in the wrong spot. She has swatted at me a few times when I wasn’t doing it right, but it was more of a clawless slapping my hand away. She did nip at me (no contact) and did nip at her last person when there was a sudden loud sound and they went to move her from their chest. Yesterday, she climbed right onto my belly and chest and headbutted my face. Then she laid down and kept her face near mine and fell asleep while I gently petted her. Then she moved to my lap and curled up for another half hour or so. Then later she was curled up beside me, pressed up against my leg. She is not keen on my 15 year old kind of grumpy cat - mutual disdain from these girls. I think she would prefer being an only cat, as she wasn’t happy with the dogs at her last place either. Her owner had to give her up due to illness but with her silky shiny coat she was obviously well fed and taken care of. She is a senior gal and has the beginnings of kidney disease. My 15 year old also has had higher numbers for 3 years and if you are conscious about her diet I am sure the same will be true for Kit Kat too. It is super common in American kitties, in part due to diet, especially if the ate a lot of dry food. The biggest concern is she likes plastic and will lick it and wil

If you have any questions or would like to adopt KitKat, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
