Penguins are social animals who often live in large colonies and form long- term bonds. Well, our sweet gal is certainly a social animal looking to share a long- term bond with a new family! But, she’s negotiable on the large colony living situation- the overcrowded shelter is not for her!! Penguin is an incredibly sweet, snuggly gal who just wants to cuddle up with her humans. She recently headed on a day trip and got to explore a Tucson neighborhood, have lunch on a restaurant patio, and browse a bookstore. Her new friends described her as sweet and loving. “Penguin is a sociable sweet dog. She really likes to be cuddled. She likes toys but prefers time with her humans. She is agreeable with everyone she meets. She was very friendly to everyone she met-both adults and kids.”Here’s what another friend said:“Looking for the lappiest lap dog that ever lapped? Penguin is your girl! Her favorite spot is with you. She spent almost all of our day together snoozing/snoring while, you guessed it, on my lap. Or at least her head on my lap as she is not the tiniest dog there ever was. But those eyes! She looks lovingly up at you and melts your heart, and you realize all you want to do is give her exactly what she wants. Non-stop hugs, pets, scratches. Penguin has been in the shelter for far too long and is clearly very comfortable in a home. She just wants a soft spot to cuddle up (next to you please) forever. She is so loving and gentle and chill and deserves a loving home!”During a stay in foster Penguin did great with kids and babies, was housetrained, and was a lap dog and a love bug who was friendly with everyone she met. She loved sleeping next to her foster person at night and was polite on leash. She isn’t a fan of being left home alone, so will benefit from crate training and enrichment in her future home. Penguin has shared her kennel politely and has been independent and tolerant when meeting other dogs in playgroup. She’d like to meet any resident dogs before heading home to ensure a good fit and is looking for a home without small dogs.If you’re also looking for a long- term bond with a best friend, ask to meet Penguin today!!
