She is 4 and a half years old, 15 lbs, and believed to be a Lhasa Apso / Havanese mix. Honey’s name couldn’t be more fitting — she’s as sweet as they come. Rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding case in Arkansas, Honey was one of over 40 dogs crammed into a single home. When she arrived, her hair was severely matted, her nails were overgrown, and she had clearly gone far too long without basic care. But with a fresh shave, a gentle groom, and some TLC, Honey is already beginning to shine. Now that she is in a loving foster home, Honey is absolutely thriving. She gets along well with other dogs, (a bit timid when her fosters great dane is around, but otherwise great with all 3 of her like sized dogs) and she has learned that people can be kind and cuddles are a very good thing. She’s soaking up all the lap time, affection, and attention she missed out on for so long—and she’s loving every minute of it. Honey is a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. With positive reinforcement training, she has all the potential in the world to be a loyal, well-mannered adult companion. She’ll thrive with virtual or in-person force-free training classes, which will help strengthen her bond with her humans and build her confidence. Honey is up to date on her vaccinations and is spayed. Farfel's Rescue is a fully foster based rescue, and offers a one week trial with every adoption. We feel that this is much more beneficial to not only the dog, but the adopter too. We believe that only getting 20-30 minutes with a dog before deciding on a lifetime commitment is not a fair amount of time to the adopter, or the dog. Therefore we give adopters one week with the dog to assure it is the right fit, and offer a full refund of their adoption fee should it not workout within the week trial. Farfel's Rescue has been doing adoptions this way since 2005 and is thrilled to adopt out ~400 dogs each year. Applications are currently being accepted for our wonderful pup. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog.
