My story

My adoption fee will be waived July 18 and 19 as part of thePURR-OVER BREWS ADOPTION EVENT !!! Mighty is currently in foster care if you are interested in meeting Mighty please fill out this inquiry form https://www.cognitoforms.com/mspcaatcapecod/mspcafosteranimaladoptioninquiry and a member of our foster team will be in touch to coordinate a meet up! Mighty has the potential to be a sweet, gentle companion with a very cat-savvy adopter who is willing to put in the extra effort to help him come out of his shell. He is easily stressed or overwhelmed during transitions, and is looking for an adopter who is willing to give him as much time as he needs to settle in - it could be a couple of days, weeks, or longer. His success will be dependent on how well adopters are able to read and appropriately respond to his body language. We recommend setting him up in his own space to start (an extra bedroom or bathroom, for example). Choose a space that people or animals do not have access to unless you are going in to clean or feed. He should be left alone initially as he adjusts. HIs space should include plenty of hiding places, ideally with access to vertical surfaces as well like a cat tree or a cat-proofed shelf, and easy access to a litter box, food, and water.Never approach him or try to pet or pick him up when he is hiding or showing fearful body language. Gradually give him more access to the home only when he is confidently moving about his environment and remains confident with relaxed body language when you go in to spend time with him.Meeting new people can be very overwhelming for Mighty. It is possible he may only ever be comfortable within his small bubble. Adopters should be comfortable with a cat who may not ever want to expand their social circle. If you think Mighty could be a good match for your home and would like to learn more, stop by our Nevin`s Farm Adoption Center in Methuen. We have open adoption hours Tuesday - Sunday from 12:00 pm - 4:30 pm with no appointment or application needed. You are welcome to enter our cat room during open hours. Staff and volunteers will be happy to assist you.The MSPCA at Nevins Farm receives no state or federal support. We depend on kind and compassionate people like you to support our animals and programs. Please consider making a donation to help with our efforts here: http://www.mspca.org/nevinsgift

If you have any questions or would like to adopt MIGHTY, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
