My story

JinoraSince arriving at the HSHC as a stray cat, I`ve been confused about why no one has come looking for me. I am a lovely dilute Torbie (grey, white, and buff), 6-years-old, already spayed and litterbox trained. I was found wandering around 116th Street in Fishers on April 19. As you can see in my photos, I am a striking beauty. I hope you understand that, because I was someone`s cat before, being at the shelter is quite alarming. I appreciate it when you approach me slowly, gently, and calmly. Too much noise, rapid activity, grabbing, or picking me up will result in my becoming overstimulated. When this happens, I may swat, hiss, or try to nip whoever is coming on too strong. The interviewer lady (IL) opened my door, crossed her arms on the floor of my apartment, and spoke to me in a soft, comforting tone. After watching her, I decided she would not hurt me, and I walked up to her, softly purring. I allowed her to pet me, scratch my chin, and stroke my back. When she offered me my food dish, I decided I was hungry and began to eat. The shelter staff recommends giving me a very gradual introduction to your home and any existing pets and kids you have. Our relationship will benefit from frequent interactive play sessions with fishing pole toys or anything I can chase. Calming aids, interactive toys, and tasty treats will help me build my trust with you and help me healthily handle stimuli. I long to be someone`s treasured pet again. Keeping my paws crossed, it will happen soon! 5-20-25
