My story

Leela`s Compatibility:Dogs: Yes, plays well with other dogs in foster careCats: YesKids: YesLeela is the definition of a survivor. Found near death in a cemetery on Valentine’s Day, she was severely emaciated, covered in sores, too weak to walk, and suffering from extreme anemia. Thanks to the dedication of shelter staff, the Humane Society for Hamilton County team, and emergency vets, Leela pulled through, and now her future is finally looking bright.Today, Leela is gaining weight, building strength, and letting her sweet, spunky personality shine. She’s great on leash, rides well in the car, and loves being with her people. In her foster home, she’s learning commands like sit, crate, go outside, and leave it. She’s even figured out how to ask to go out all by herself. She’s also begun playing with the other dogs in the home and is soaking up all the affection she can get.Leela is still working on a few puppy habits like jumping up, pawing for attention, and taking treats a little too enthusiastically. Her foster family is helping her build polite manners, and she’s learning quickly with structure and consistency. If you`re looking for a dog who embodies resilience, hope, and unconditional love, Leela might be the one. She`s fought hard to be here, and now she’s ready to be someone’s whole world. Come meet her!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Leela (in foster), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
