What my friends at ACC say about me:I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.My favorite pastime is being visually admired! Pet me with your eyes!I have medical needs that staff will address with you when you meet me.I have potential behavior challenges that staff will address with you when you meet me.Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.A volunteer writes: Ginger Root came to us from a home with many other cats, so it's not entirely surprising that blending into the shelter milieu seems to be her style. That's ok, it just means that she could use a bit of a hand when it comes to getting to know her. In our attempts to meet Ginger Root where she is, we bring treats and toys for fun, scratcher tools for pets and soft conversation for interest. Unfortunately, the latter is where we've been coming up a bit short. Though Ginger Root will poke her head out from her den to sniff our snacks and will allow some pets, she hasn't been one to come out and say hello with waving paws and cheerful chirps. She is one, however, to say hello on her own terms. Though building a friendship with Ginger Root will take some patience, time, and love, we also know that it will be worth it.
