My story

Dog Name: Coffee Breed: Chihuahua Mix Sex: Female Age: 2 Yrs Weight: 15 lbs Medical Needs: None Housebroken: YES! No accidents at all since she arrived. Crate trained: She goes into her crate on command . Sleeps through the night with no issues. Good in the car: Yes! .She is great in the car and has been on a 1 hour drive with no issues Good on a leash: Work in progress. She is a puller and is slowly improving with training. Can be a little reactive to strangers or loud noises but responds well with a brisk Coffee NO! Energy Level: Very High! Coffee jumps up and down when excited and has bursts of energy when given the opportunity to chase squirrels and birds. She is very alert and investigates any noise or movement she sees. She has a good recall and will respond easily to “come”. She loves a stuffed Kong and will spend lots of time chewing to release her treats. Need a fenced in yard: No, but it would be preferred based on her energy level. She would love one since she enjoys chasing squirrels, birds etc. Should be walked several times a day if there is no fence. Dog Friendly? Yes. She has been good with my resident dogs. Will need slow introduction when meeting other dogs. Does your foster need another dog in its adoptive home? Not necessarily, although she might benefit from other dogs exemplifying good behavior . She has high energy so sometimes she can be too much for my senior dog. Cat Friendly? Unknown. Not tested, but doubtful based on her squirrel obsession. Kid Friendly: Yes with a slow introduction. She has met a 6 and 10 year old and enjoyed fetching a toy and racing around the yard. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them? Coffee is a velcro dog and when she finds her people she will be a devoted pet. She loves to be in your lap and take a nap. She needs a slow introduction to new people. She has just learned to”SIT”” and nearly has “STAY” conquered. She would benefit from some additional training. That would also give her more confidence and help her overall. Once she accepts you she is a sweetie! Loves her squeak toys and will play fetch. This girl is a door dasher so caution needs to be taken. Typical 2 year old, be aware she can chew things if bored and likes to dig a hole when given the opportunity….
