Meet Dudley—a 5-year-old, 43-pound sweetheart with a heart full of love and a gentle, goofy charm. Dudley is a true velcro dog who thrives on companionship and loves being near his humans. Whether he’s following you from room to room or attempting to snuggle onto your lap (despite his size), Dudley’s goal is always to be close and connected. His floppy ears, reddish tan “eyebrows,” and adorable smile only add to his irresistible personality.Dudley’s energy level sits comfortably around a 6 out of 10. He enjoys bursts of playful “zoomies,” especially when chasing after a ball or tug toy, but quickly calms down after about 10-15 minutes of active play. His playfulness is balanced by a calm, affectionate nature—he’s just as happy to plop down at your feet and invite belly rubs, even if you’re on your way somewhere else! This mix of playfulness and chill makes him a wonderful companion for many lifestyles.Smart and eager to please, Dudley is quick to learn commands and responds well to training, especially when treats are involved. He already knows “sit” and shows a willingness to improve his leash manners. While he does get very excited when heading outside—sometimes barreling out the door or tugging on the leash—he is becoming more familiar with his walks and environment with each outing. He also knows and enjoys his crate, which provides him a safe and comfortable space. Dudley is mostly quiet indoors and only barks when there’s a clear cause—like delivery people at the door or trash trucks rumbling by. His barking is measured and purposeful, not constant. One important note is Dudley’s high prey drive. He is fascinated by squirrels, birds, and small animals and tends to try to chase them during walks. He even stared intently at a deer during an outing, needing encouragement to move on. Because of this, Dudley is best suited for a home without cats, small pets, or small dogs. Meeting any potential dog companions beforehand is recommended to ensure a good fit, as Dudley can get a bit rowdy and bouncy once he feels comfortable during play.Dudley’s social skills with people are excellent. He recently attended an adoption event in Sykesville where he was a star—greeting people from toddlers to seniors with gentle charm, leaning in for cuddles, and even offering his belly for rubs. He also enjoyed a Dog’s Day Out at Herring Run Park, where he lounged in the grass and indulged in whipped cream, showing off his sweet and easyg
