My story

Karma has enjoyed a few Dog Day Out from BARCS, and she was an absolute joy to spend time with! This sweet, cuddly girl started out feeling a little overwhelmed, so her volunteers swapped their original park plans for a cozy “Netflix and chill” day instead — exactly what Karma needed.Once she arrived at her temporary home-away-from-home, Karma wasted no time curling up in laps and following her companions from room to room. She soaked up head scratches, savored a pup cup, and happily napped the day away in her humans’ arms. They took a few short strolls around the neighborhood, where Karma walked nicely on leash, but she was just as eager to get back inside for more TV time and cuddles.She felt a little more confident on her next outing, and visited Fort McHenry to take a stroll and relax in the grass. She walked nicely on her leash and was a calm, inquisitive, snuggly companion for the afternoon.Karma can be selective with her friends, she does best with gentle dog pals and requests to meet any doggie roommates to make sure they are a good match.I`m a VIP because I`m still learning, and the shelter can be a tough place for dogs like me to shine. But I’ve got a whole team cheering me on!Here are a few things the staff and volunteers are helping me with:• Learning to make the right dog friends at the right pace• Learning that the world isn`t so scaryIf you`re patient and open-hearted, I could be your best friend. I`m available for adoption! During the adoption process, a staff member can walk you through what’s been working for me and how you can keep the progress going at home.Karma is currently in the comfort of a foster home.
