My story

Tolkien is being fostered in Schaumburg IL Introducing Tolkien!  This ADORABLE black tri female Mini American Shepherd (Mini Australian Shepherd) with a tail was born on 1/20/2025.  She and her littermates (The Authors) are settling into the posh life in their foster homes.   Her foster parents report that she is SUCH a good puppy already!  Learning the ropes from the other pups in the home, she is potty training, crate training and is doing AUSSOME at it!  She is already sleeping through the night in her crate.  She will need to stay on a schedule for potty and crate training for continued success. While this cutie is absolutely stunning, please make sure you do your research about Aussies.  They need continued socialization with the world around them, full of strangers and various stimuli to grow up to be well rounded dogs and not guard dogs.   If you have never had an Aussie, Border Collie or a working dog before, we recommend doing a little research before committing to this high energy working breed!  She will need a MINIMUM of 2-3 hours of exercise throughout the day.   Tolkien is a little behind on age appropriate vaccinations because we had no proof of any vaccines before she came in, is microchipped, dewormed and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org.
