She’s loyal, gentle, and just looking for someone to finally put her first.When Nikita arrived at the shelter, she was skin and bones. It was clear she hadn’t been cared for in a long time, and she was doing her best to survive on her own. We slowly helped her gain weight and build her strength, and now she’s finally starting to feel like herself again. That rough start helps explain a lot about Nikita. She’s very attached to her toys and her food, and she prefers not to share. When you’ve gone without for so long, it makes sense to hold on tight to the things that bring you comfort. She just needs a home that understands that and is willing to give her space when she’s enjoying something she loves.Nikita has a soft spot for people she knows and trusts. She may be cautious at first, but once you’re in her circle, she’s affectionate and devoted. She’s got a great little habit of carrying around her toys like treasures and will happily curl up nearby just to be close to you. She’d do best in a home with older kids who can respect her boundaries, and she’s not a good fit for a home with cats. She has done well with respectful dogs before, so a meet and greet with a potential dog friend can help us see if she’s open to a sibling. She’s also perfectly happy being your one and only.Nikita is still learning how to walk on leash and build confidence in new places, but she’s come a long way. What she needs now is someone with patience, a calm routine, and a big heart. She’s not a dog who’s had it easy, but she’s never stopped trying. Nikita is more than ready to be loved and understood.
