My story

Meet Mona Lisa, an 8-year-old sweetheart weighing in at a perfect 51 pounds of love, loyalty, and just the right dash of goofiness. She’s the kind of dog who knows how to chill but also has little bursts of playful joy that will steal your heart. Mona Lisa is an absolute dream in the car. She hops right in, settles down quietly, and waits patiently for permission to hop back out. On a recent trip to a sniffspot, she showed off her lounge-loving personality by stretching out on a beach blanket in the shade, completely unbothered by the barking dogs next door. She helped herself to plenty of treats and lunch, then drifted off into a peaceful food coma. Though she prefers the shade and a cozy nap, she’s no couch potato all the time—Mona Lisa has her playful moments too. She enjoys toys and loves those little spurts of fun where she’ll show off her silly side. Whether it’s a squeaky toy or a good game of tug, she knows how to make playtime count. And if you get up to walk around, she’ll be right on your heels like a loyal, big-headed shadow, eager to join in whatever you're doing. She’s a total treat enthusiast and will find her way to your stash with determination. While she might be a bit mouthy at first, she quickly learns to take snacks gently once she knows they’re hers. A good brushing pulled out enough fur to furnish a bird’s nest, but she sat patiently through it all, just happy to be by your side. Bath time? No problem. She was a little skeptical of the water at first but handled it like a champ, even letting her ears be cleaned without complaint. She came out of her spa day clean, fresh, and even more huggable. Mona Lisa is a loving bundle of joy who’s just as happy lounging on the couch as she is giving kisses or chasing a toy. She’s social, sweet with new people, and always has a smile on her face. Her easygoing nature, affectionate personality, and little pops of playfulness make her the perfect balance of calm and fun. If you’re looking for a companion who brings the perfect mix of snuggles and silliness, Mona Lisa is ready to join your life—and your couch—for good. As always, we strongly recommend bringing any resident dogs to the shelter for a meet and greet with potential new family members to be sure it's a good match. If bringing a dog for a meet and greet, please bring proof of up to date rabies, bordetella, and DHPP vaccines. To meet your future pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mona Lisa, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
