My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:18Meet Emu, a soulful, stoic gentleman who’s still figuring out this whole shelter life thing. At 88 pounds of handsome grey velvet, Emu is the strong, silent type—more brooding poet than party animal. Right now, he’s disinterested in treats, toys, or much fanfare—but who can blame him? He’s likely mourning the loss of his person and routine, and this loud, unpredictable environment just isn’t his vibe. Emu has some training under his belt, walks nicely on leash, and politely accepts affection when offered—he’s just not the type to throw himself into your lap. He’s shown to be calm around other dogs, preferring to do his own thing, and would likely thrive in a peaceful home with experienced folks who understand that trust takes time. Emu isn’t broken—he’s just waiting for the right person to help him feel whole again.  May 10, 2025, 7:27 pm
