What my friends at ACC say about me:Marley is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. She is apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, she appears wary of human contact. It is difficult to predict if she will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!I have lived with cats in my previous home.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.I am looking for a home with a patient person.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.I would do best in a home without very tiny humans, although I could be open to older human children once I meet them.A volunteer writes: The epic task of making our way in the world takes time, practice, and sometimes a few stumbles to help us figure out what's meant for us. Some of us valiantly look at the bright side and smile while others valiantly look at the corner and wait for all of this to pass. Both are pretty ok because Marley, who seems to fit more in the latter group, has learned quite a bit from her waiting and so have we. We've learned that she really likes pets and has a tendency to soften into them the longer someone takes the time to sit with her. Marley is someone who just seems to prefer the quiet. All of the people in and out, opening doors, even opening her condo door discourage her from coming forward and introducing herself. She's waiting to find someone who will take their time to get to know the bright and sparkly kitty she is. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 7 Age: 2yrs 1mths 1wks
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Marley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
