My story

I am at Oakland Animal Services in kennel Dog Adoption:10Meet Nyro — the sweet, bouncy senior who’s still got plenty of pep in his step! At 7 years old and just over 70 pounds, Nyro is a buff-colored pittie mix with a gentle heart and an eager spirit. This handsome boy is treat-motivated, knows “sit” and “paw,” and is already showing signs of being potty trained — the full gentleman starter pack! Nyro’s still settling in and figuring out shelter life, so he can be a little hesitant with handling at first. But give him a moment, a kind voice, and maybe a tasty snack, and you’ll start to see him relax and open up. Once he’s feeling comfy, his bouncy, playful side comes out — even if he’s not quite sure what to do with a toy just yet. He’s currently learning the ropes of polite dog interactions and would do well as your one-and-only or with a calm, well-matched dog friend. What he really needs is a soft place to land, patient people, and a little time to fully decompress and remember what it means to be home. Nyro may be in his golden years, but this loving guy is just getting started. Come meet him at Oakland Animal Services — your loyal sidekick might be waiting!         View this post on Instagram                       A post shared by Oakland Animal Services (OAS) (@oaklandanimalservices)  May 10, 2025, 9:50 am
