PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.4/27/25 Meet Betty! She was being given away for free on Facebook, so we stepped in before she ended up in a bad situation or bounced from home to home. An elderly person had got Betty from a backyard breeder situation. She was being given away by her owner because Betty was too much for an older person. We were told that Betty's dad is a Mountain Feist/American Coonhound mix and her mom is an Australian Shepherd. We were told she is 6 months old, however, our vet thinks she is more like 8 months old. Betty is only 23-24 pounds. I do not think she is going to get much bigger. She may fill out a little but that's about it. Betty is an energetic pup. She loves to play with toys and loves to play fetch. A fenced yard will likely be best for her, but this can be negotiable depending on the situation. She is house trained and crate trained. Her owner had not taken her anywhere since she got her as a puppy. Due to this, riding in the car is a new thing for Betty. She rides good (stays put, doesn't jump around) but does get nervous and car sick. We are working on this and she is already making progress. She also had not put a collar on her or a leash. She was very nervous when I first put a collar on her but she is getting used to it. She needs to work on leash walking. She has another month before she gets spayed and can be adopted, so we will work on leash manners between now and then! She is good with other dogs. It took her a little time to find her place in the pack and realize she is not the boss. She loves to play with my dogs and run and chase w/ them. I have not had her around kids. She does jump and occasionally nips (out of play) when she thinks there is something in my hand that she wants (food, toys). She is not doing this aggressively in any way, she's just excited and it's probably a little bit of the Australian Shepherd in her. She is food motivated! She is learning 'sit' and we are working on not jumping. She loves people and has the adorable wiggle but and tail wag when her people get home from work. She has not been around cats. She is a really cool dog! She could likely do some agility work if someone had the time to work w/ her on it. Her owner had not done any vetting-no shots, nothing. So, we're getting her fully vetted and then she'll be ready for adoption. She will be spayed at the beginning of June and then she'll be good to go! We have videos of this girl too. Email us and we’ll send you the videos!
