meg is one of two border collies that was confiscated from a bad situation. She is currently in the shelter and is in need of a border savvy foster. She has been assessed and there are really no behavioural issues that a quiet routine home would not cure. These dogs(there are 2) do NOT deserve to be in a shelter nor the situation they were in. Can we change that please??? Here is the assessment: Meg- (Spayed Female, ~4 years, ~44lbs, Microchipped, HWT Neg) - Like Lois, Meg is very sweet, she is just nervous. She walks well on the leash; she just walks a bit slower. You may have to take your time walking with her. She does not pancake and refuse to walk; she is just very cautious. Despite this, once she warms up to you, it's all cuddles, all the time. She did not appear too interested in treats when I offered but she was very interested in having her neck scratched. Like Lois, she did not show any signs of fear aggression and wanted cuddles when you would get to her level. She eats food with her kennel mate (Meg) and does not show signs of resource guarding. She is nervous but not fear aggressive. She does best with slow, gentle movements. She will crawl into your lap and accept cuddles. she will even greet you with a little kiss on the nose. She accepts treats very gently and does not appear to resource guard. Even when she had moments of getting overwhelmed (walking through the kennels of hundreds of barking dogs) the only theming she wanted to do was snuggle up when I got down on my knee to comfort her. We had custodial staff cleaning the shelter and while she did seem a little nervous at the sound of the vacuum, sis did nto bark or freak out. they were kept outdoors so most likely not housebroken. They may need to be crate trained. they do walk on lead. We would really like to help these sweet babies. SO please Border folks or experienced dog folk only. Fenced yard I will say yes. Other dogs are ok too. No in your face dogs tho. And if you dog has not been around other dogs for a period of time, now is not the time to find out how they act. These girls need help now. Thank you so very much. Please look read and share!!
