My story

Meet Nova – Nova is a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix who came to us all the way from Puerto Rico. Life there can be tough for small dogs, and Nova is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. She’s a naturally shy and timid girl, but once she feels secure, her sweet, cuddly personality begins to shine through. With a low energy level, Nova is perfectly content with short walks, soft blankets, and lots of quiet time with her favorite person. She absolutely loves to cuddle and is happiest snuggled up beside someone who makes her feel safe. Nova does well with other dogs, especially those who are calm and respectful—she just needs slow, gentle introductions to feel comfortable and build trust with new canine companions. She doesn’t require any previous dog experience—just a patient, understanding adopter who will give her the time and space she needs to adjust. Nova is an ideal match for seniors or quiet households, and would do well in an apartment or condo setting. Because of her sensitive nature, an adult-only home is preferred, as loud noises and sudden movements can easily overwhelm her. If you’re looking for a calm, affectionate, and loyal little dog who just wants to be loved and feel safe, Nova could be your perfect match. With time, patience, and a soft place to land, she’ll blossom into the most devoted companion you could ask for.
