My story

Have you been getting enough fruits and vegetables? Probably not- you should check out our boy Okra! Okra is a SUPER sweet and cuddly boy who loves to curl up close to and take pets all over. Okra can be somewhat shy and hesitant at first especially in this loud shelter, but he's being such a brave boy! Okra was surrendered to the shelter because his owners weren't allowed to have pets in their place. His owner said he's friendly, playful, good with kids, and likes to chew! Okra is a young boy est. to be around 1.5 years old. He's looking for a kind and patient family to take him in and show him the ropes! He's now available for adoption at ACCT Philly. Once he warmed up, he was still mildly aloof with the other dogs but romped around the yard with them and occasionally joined in running with them. Behavior Eval per volunteer 4/27/25: Kennel presence: He was laying next to his bed when I approached his kennel. He looked at me and moved his head side to side taking me in. I dropped a few treats and his body loosened up and he came towards me with a wagging tail. Leash: He let me leash him on the first try. Kennel was clean and he did a really long pee outside so maybe potty trained? He pulls somewhat moderately on leash and sometimes stops suddenly to take in smells and sights! Handling: He’s very treat motivated, but doesn’t seem to know any commands. He takes treats super gently! He took pets from me and had a very loose body when we were interacting. When walking through the kennel and outside, he was a little shy about going through doors or around corners, seems to be just a little hesitant and scared but being super brave. We passed another dog and he pulled quite a bit towards them but it was with a member of the public so we didn’t get close enough for a meet. Such a cuddle bug when we got inside, super sweet boy! Pancaked hard going back into the kennel and tried to jump out at the last second. Toys: Seem to be mildly interested in play and chasing toys. Color: Blue Had to carry him in and quickly close the door and unleash- only made him blue for that reason ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in.
