Buddy is a 6 year old, 65-70ish lb, gorgeous male Golden Retriever who is being surrendered because his people said "Buddy deserves to be in a home were he can have more opportunity and freedom to run, play, and exercise. We can not provide that for him now." He is crate-trained, but will need a family that has the time and patience to work with him as he has not had any training. He will need a family committed to giving him the exercise and direction he needs to be a good boy. He will also need to go to a home where he is the only dog. He is incredibly sweet and will chase the ball all day if you let him, but he is also looking for love in between throws!! Buddy is in a foster home, and we have learned he is heartworm positive. His foster family says: "Don’t let his age fool you, this guy is full of energy and also a sweetheart. All he wants is love and attention and to play BALL. Buddy or “B” as I like to call him, could play ball all day and his favorite pastime is the chuckit launcher. I have to hide it when we come inside but when he sees it, B gets wound up like a toddler. Buddy walks well on a leash and other dogs and people don’t phase him when we are out. This guy tolerates car rides. He tries to jump out and over me when we reach our destination. B understands basic commands but doesn’t really follow them and could use a little training as he does not understand personal space. I discovered he is not a fan of the hose but loves a pool of water. He’s a bit unsure of new sounds but I think he’s still warming up to being in a new environment. 4th of July fireworks didn’t seem to affect him too much.Buddy is crate trained but only stays in it when I leave the house. I work at home and he lays at my feet throughout the day. Buddy gets to sleep in the adult bed but is fine sleeping in his crate too! Sadly, Buddy is heart worm positive and getting ready to start his treatment. He will make a great addition to his new family when he recovers.” If you would like to learn more abot Buddy, or meet him, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##2364346##
