My story

Hello out there! My name is Callie (Vaquita or 'little cow' in Mexico) and you can learn more about me here: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Fox terrier/Border Collie mix Age: 4 years 2 months approx.  Gender: Female Weight: 28lbs (14 kg)  Height: 60cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 60cm (head to butt) Current Location: Mexico City, Mexico RESCUE STORY - About three years ago, I was rescued with 36 other pups from some rough conditions in a kill shelter. All of us were crammed inside a large kennel with limited food and water, begging to get out...My rescuer said her heart was broken into a thousand pieces. Thankfully, she managed to barter for our freedom and saved us. Now all of the other 36 pups have found loving homes - except me! I'm the last one! Will you be the lucky family to complete our happy ending?  TEMPERAMENT - My rescuer describes me as a 'piece of cake' (yum!). That means I'm an easy and low energy pup. After all I've been through, I can be a bit reserved at first and I do take some time to warm up to hoomans. But once I do, I am a velcro doggo who only wants to be cuddled and in your arms! I can be a bit nervous and shy by nature so I would probably do best with a family without young kids. I also like to have my own space where I can recharge my batteries (like any good introvert). With some understanding and patience, I will be the goodest and most loving doggo, I promise.  ENERGY LEVEL - Low/Medium GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – As a bit of a nervous pup I'd do better in a home without kids. Dogs – I get along well with other pups and currently live with many other doggos! Cats – Yes! I am pretty indifferent to cats as you can see here and here.   PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around squirrels/rabbits etc. My adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – I do okay on a leash as you can see here however I will need some additional patience and training. A double leash (with a secure harness) is recommended when I go for walks as I can get nervous in new environments and may be a flight risk. House trained – My rescuer says I am okay with this but I may need some additional training and patience.  Crate trained – My rescuer says I am not so familiar with this and I may need some additional training and patience.  Car rides – My rescuer says I am not so familiar with this and I may need some additional training and patience.  Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES:  I am spayed and vaccinated. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter. ADOPTION FEE: My adoption fee is $728.00 CAD including tax (5% GST, 7% PST), which includes my airfare, if a flight volunteer is found directly to Vancouver. ------------------------------------- DISCLAIMER: Please visit wcpdogrescue.com to read about West Coast Paws Dog Rescue and it's adoption process. The info included in each WCP bio is provided to us from the international rescuer. WCP does not have in-person access to overseas dogs and cannot always verify the accuracy of their descriptions, although we ask for video proof of a dog's attributes wherever possible. Every dog is an individual and can act differently in different situations based on the person(s) adopting them and the environment in which they live.  WCP is unable to guarantee the accuracy of a dogs age and/or breed. These are strictly "best guesses" based on veterinary exams and their educated estimates.  ##2372696##
