Mickey

My story

Mickey is a charming little guy with a heart full of love.  He is incredibly affectionate and enjoys a game of fetch, whether it's indoors or out. He just recently learned the joy of going for walks on leash and loves his walks, sharing kisses, cuddling under cozy blankets, soaking up the sun and rolling over for belly rubs.  Mickey can be a bit nervous when meeting new people but tends to warm up fairly quickly and then wants all the belly rubs.  His owner recently passed away and Mickey and his sister Rianna are both looking for new forever homes.  They do well together but it is not necessary for them to go to the same home.   Name: Mickey Breed: Chihuahua Weight: 8 pounds Gender: Male Spayed/neutered: Mickey had a vasectomy. Age: 7 years Up to Date with Vetting: Yes Good with dogs: Has only socialized with the 4 other Chihuahua's in the home.  On walks he may bark at other dogs or shake when he sees them.   Good with cats: Unknown Good with kids: Not recommended with babies/toddlers.  Currently living with a 7 and 10 year old and is OK with them. Good with strangers: If a stranger visits he will bark at them and may approach them.  He needs a bit of time to warm up to new people. Resource guarding issues: Not from people or other dogs. Ever bitten a human: No Ever bitten a dog: No Fears:  Housetrained: Yes.  He previously lived in a home with a doggie door to the yard. He is housetrained and will toilet in the yard, and on walks  Crate trained: No Good in the car: Yes Bark when left alone: No, he has not barked when left alone with the other dogs or by himself. Destructive: No Energy Level: Low to medium Leash skills: He just recently learned to walk on leash and is enjoying them.  He is not a puller but may bark or shake when he sees other dogs. Okay with physical handling/manipulations: Caregiver can handle him, bathe and brush him, and trim his nails. Known commands: sit, come Food on now: Currently eating K9 Natural Beef Feast Freeze-Dried Food.  Cooked ground beef sometimes added. Behavioural issues: He will bark at strangers and take a bit of time to get comfortable with them.   Medical issues: Mickey has had ongoing issues with GI upset including not wanting to eat and having diarrhea.  A recent diet change plus probiotics seems to have helped.
