My story

*** Bassi is in our Petco Mira Mesa adoption center. ***Bassi: brown tabby, short hair, spayed female, born approx. 3/18/18, #19605 Cats: solo kittyDogs: unknownChildren: gentle elementary+ BACKGROUND: Bassi had lived in her home since she was a kitten, but when a family member’s mental health took a sharp downward turn it became an untenable situation for them. A close friend of the family stepped up to take Bassi temporarily while trying to find a long-term solution and avoid rolling the dice with her life at a shelter. She reached out to The Rescue House and we were able to take Bassi into our care and help find her a new family to love.PERSONALITY: Gentle in spirit and sweetly talkative, Bassi is a very smart and vocal girl who loves to talk and who will ask for the things she wants. A rub against your legs accompanied by a meow and a look toward her target (like if she wants you to open a closed door) works well for her. This companionable yet not clingy kitty will stretch out on your legs for laptime or half-curl upside-down while you pet her… it’s not a trap: she enjoys belly rubs. Bassi likes playing a bit of hallway soccer and whacking little balls around though she’s not a high-energy cat. She does ask that you let her keep her paws under her control and not pick her up too much, and that you have patience as she adjusts to new things (though if you go to her even when she’s hiding at first, she welcomes pets). Bassi has found this big life change to be rather daunting; she likes her known routine and familiar people, and she needs time to warm up to newcomers. COMPATIBILITY: Bassi is not fond of other cats and wants to be your only kitty love. She hasn’t met dogs. Young or very boisterous children would be a bit much for her, and she would do better in an adult home or with gentle and respectful kids who are elementary age and up and will give her space to adjust as they get acquainted.Bassi’s dream is simple yet so meaningful: a safe and secure home where she can have quality companionship and a chance to bond with her people. Will you give her that chance?

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bassi, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
