This gentle, cautious soul named Buddy Jackson was found running loose near Greenmount Cemetery, keeping his distance from people and navigating busy streets. It took a team effort to safely secure him after he ran into the School District parking lot, but he was ultimately brought to ACCT Philly where he's now resting and receiving care. Though nervous at first, Buddy Jackson has shown signs of trust and a desire for connection. With patience and calm voices, he takes treats gently and slowly allows affection. Outside the shelter, he opens up a bit more—offering soft wags, gentle eye contact, and tolerating body handling. He even had a playful meet with another dog, bowing and bouncing with excitement, suggesting he might enjoy dog friends in the right setting. He woke up and approached the front, took treats gently. Used treats to loop him and he was hesitant to come out of the kennel. Ears to the side, tail down not wagging, furrowed brow. Walked thru kennels without pulling. Once outside approached other handler with low tail wagging, ears back, soft eyes, gentle panting. I slowly began to touch him on his side and neck while offering treats, he would move away slightly after the attempts but soon he was tolerant and accepting of the body handling. Dog meet with Freckles: he was loose, wiggly, gave multiple play bows and vocalizations to get her attention, and also directed some barking at me. I interpreted it as excitement since tail was down and wagging, soft eyes, ears flopping to the side. When Freckles would engage with him he would bound backwards and fell over his own legs a couple of times. He would benefit from playgroup. He was easy to return to kennel. Once checked in he can be made available, BLUE walker. 04/18/2025 Approached the kennel and he was on the bed standing, mouth closed, squinty eyes, ears back, tail down not wagging. I offered cheese and he readily ate it and took it gently from my hand. I showed him the leash and he retreated. I put the leash in with cheese near it and he would approach and eat it, then retreat back to the bed. I will continue to work with him today to see if he can safely come out. 04/15/2025 Paws were up on kennel door. He sniffed my hand. Seems a bit fearful but wasn’t reactive. 04/15/2025 4-15-25, 3:06p, Dog was RAL in Greenmount cemetery, dog kept a lot of distance between him and I, gave a chase trying to catch him and he ran into street, almost got hit by a car and thankfully he ran into School District parking lot, closed gates to parking lot and tried to catch dog, couldn’t catch him by myself, too large of a space, called for back up, dispatch sent team over to me where we cornered dog behind Acct truck against gate and was able to get catch pole on him and get him onto truck. Great team effort! Medical Notes 04/16/2025 ACA attempted to get pt out of kennel but pt was very fearful with tense body language, whale eyes and some low growling.
