My story

Say hello to Mikey, a 2-year-old black retriever mix with a heart full of love and a tail that never stops wagging! 🖤 Mikey is the definition of a sweet soul—gentle, curious, and quietly affectionate. Whether he’s doing zoomies in the backyard or snuggling beside you on the couch, Mikey is happiest when he’s close to his person. Mikey is house-trained and will politely let you know when he needs to go out by walking to the back door. While he hasn’t been crate-trained yet, he’s shown great manners in the home and is respectful of people. He currently lives with three feline roommates and is slowly making progress with introductions. Mikey has shown potential to live with a well-matched doggie sibling! On walks, Mikey starts off excited and pulls a bit during the first mile, but then settles into the pace and enjoys taking in all the smells and sights. He’s an active pup who loves outdoor time, roaming the yard, and going on adventures. He also knows basic commands like sit, down, and come, and responds well to gentle guidance and encouragement. Mikey lives for affection. He’s deeply loyal to his humans and may follow you from room to room like your own personal shadow. He’s especially comforting when you’re having a tough day—he’ll sense your mood and come snuggle up beside you with his soft eyes and quiet support. Mikey even loves being brushed, melting into a puddle of pure contentment. If you're looking for a companion who will stick by your side, keep you smiling, and remind you daily what loyalty looks like, Mikey is your guy! He may be a little quirky, but under that soft black coat is a heart of gold just waiting for a forever home. 🐾
