My story

🐾 Meet Tomas – A Gentle Soul Looking for His Second Chance 🐶 He is a 1-year-old, 54-pound Pitbull mix with a tender heart and a sweet, soulful gaze. He came to us as a stray and has since been neutered by our wonderful medical team. Now, he's hoping to find a patient and loving home where he can truly blossom. 🌱 Tomas is still adjusting to the busy shelter environment, and it shows—he’s a little shy and timid at first. But he’s curious and shows clear interest when he sees a leash. He wants to connect. He wants to explore. And with someone gentle and understanding by his side, he absolutely will. While Tomas isn’t a major leash puller, he could use a bit of reinforcement and training to build his confidence and focus—especially when other dogs are around. He’s alert and sometimes reactive to the sound of barking and may try to pull back toward the kennels when he hears it. We think he’d do best with an experienced handler who can help him navigate his surroundings and continue his training. Tomas has shared a kennel peacefully in the past, but his behavior around other dogs outside of the kennel has been a bit unpredictable. For this reason, we recommend a meet-and-greet if you already have a pup at home—and he may do best as the only dog, depending on the situation. Still, Tomas’s heart is in the right place. He’s friendly with people, enjoys sniffing his surroundings, and shows that he wants to connect and feel safe. With a little time and a lot of love, Tomas is going to make an incredible companion.
