My story

How Brooks arrived: Brooks was brought in by his previous owner on 4/15/25. Why this pet is the one for you:Meet Brooks - a handsome pup with a big heart and a little bit of a bubble.Brooks has shown sweet, social behavior with staff and was a champ for his intake treatments. He can be reactive around other dogs, especially in tighter spaces, and will benefit from a home that can help him build confidence and practice calm behavior on walks. He previously lived in a more rural environment where he had the space to coexist with other dogs more peacefully, so his ideal home may be one with a yard or fewer neighborhood encounters-or a family open to helping him work on this through positive reinforcement training.Brooks has lived with a cat before and did well overall, though he didn't appreciate it when the cat came near his water bowl (he would bark to express his feelings). If there are cats in the home, it will be at the counselor's discretion. He's also been around a respectful 11-year-old and did fine, so families with older children may be considered. With the right environment and support, Brooks has the potential to be a wonderful companion. He's got a good heart, loves his people, and just needs a little help navigating the world.. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and neutered. Brooks is now ready for his new home!Dog Reactive Dog:  This pet requires a virtual behavior consult, please watch THIS VIDEO to learn more about them. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: Tan Weight: 80.2 Age: 5yrs 2mths 4wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Brooks, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
