My story

How Figero arrived: Figero was brought in by her previous owner on 4/1/25. Why Figero is the one for you:Figero is a sensitive and quiet cat looking for a patient, understanding home where she can truly come out of her shell. Since first entering our care in February 2025, she's been adopted and returned twice-each time due to her fearful behavior and difficulty adjusting in a home environment. Despite her challenges, Figero has shown small but meaningful progress while in shelter care, including growing more comfortable with staff and handling over time. Her previous adopters described her as shy, skittish, and likely to hide or flee from people, though one noted that she did begin to warm up after about 30 minutes. In her most recent home, she spent most of her time hiding, even when alone in the room. At the shelter, we've observed handling sensitivity, but also a slow increase in comfort with familiar handlers.Figero has lived with other cats and was described as "okay" around them by her first adopter. She also lived with two cats and one dog.Figero may do best in a quiet, low-traffic home with few household members and plenty of safe, cozy spaces where she can decompress. She will likely need an extended confinement period and adopters who are prepared to give her the time and space she needs to adjust at her own pace.Due to her fearful behavior and handling sensitivity, Figero must go to a home with no children under 10 years old living there or frequently visiting. She may do best in a home without multiple young children.Behavior consult required before adoption to help set Figero and her future family up for success. At SDHS:This pet has been vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. Figero is now ready for her new home!Shy/Fearful Cat:  This pet requires a behavior consult, please watch THIS VIDEO to be as prepared as possible for the in person consult. Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 6.88 Age: 2yrs 3mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Figero, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
