My story

Introducing Khaleesi! Playful Affectionate Snuggly Shy Personality: Khaleesi is a playful, affectionate girl with a gentle soul and a soft coat that practically begs for pets. She loves snuggling on the bed, engaging in tug-of-war, and getting cozy with her humans. She is the definition of a velcro dog! It doesn't matter what you're doing - she wants to be doing it too! While she bonds quickly and shows lots of love, she does need slow introductions with new people. Her easygoing nature shines once she feels safe and loved. Socialness: Khaleesi does well with older children but hasn't had experience with younger ones. She reportedly got along well with a small dog in a previous home, though she did display some reactivity toward another female Great Dane in the household. There are no cats in her current home, but she reportedly did well with them in a previous home. Introductions to dogs and cats should be slow and structured. She can be shy during vet visits, so patience and gentleness go a long way with her. Likes Loves snuggling up in bed and relaxing on the couch Enjoys playing with balls and tug toys Gets excited for walks and attention from her people Dislikes Dislikes being kenneled or confined to a closed room Training: Khaleesi is crate-trained and housebroken. She knows basic commands and is continuing leash training. She does go into her kennel when told but may have trouble settling down once inside. Health: Khaleesi is in great health with no current concerns. She is mixed with St. Bernard, so she will require regular brushing due to shedding. She loves to eat and would benefit from having her meals spaced out throughout the day. Forever Home Wishlist A patient, loving family who will give her time to settle in A home where she isn’t left for more than 8 hours at a time A canine companion is okay, but slow introductions are necessary Physical fence not required but recommended for safe playtime Apartment living with proper exercise may be ok A family committed to continuing her training and offering stability Fun Fact: Khaleesi’s favorite spot is wherever you are, especially if it involves couch cuddles! If you think Khaleesi will be a great addition to your family, please reach out to us by following one of the options below. 1. If you have already completed the adoption or foster application process and are an approved adopter with UMGDR, please contact Khaleesi’s Placement Coordinator at courtney@thegreatdanerescue.com to learn more about her. 2. If you are not yet an approved adopter through UMGDR, you must complete our application process before you can be considered to adopt a dog through our rescue. Please visit https://www.thegreatdanerescue.com/adoption-application to complete an application and submit your $25 application fee to begin the process. After you have been approved, please reach out to Khaleesi’s Placement Coordinator by emailing courtney@thegreatdanerescue.com. This wonderful Dane is located in Indianola, IA. ##2318884##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Khaleesi (25-029), please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
