Meet Yankee – A Shy Boy Looking for a Safe HavenYankee is a 3-year-old Shih Tzu who weighs 15 pounds and is still learning that the world can be a safe and loving place. This little guy is very timid and currently overwhelmed by new experiences and surroundings. He’s scared of handling and unsure about people, but there’s a gentle soul underneath that fear just waiting to come out with time and patience.Yankee will need a calm, understanding home where he can take things at his own pace. A confident, friendly dog in the home could be a big help in showing him the ropes and helping him build trust. He`s not ready for cuddles or pets just yet, but he’s quietly observing and slowly adjusting every day.With kindness, consistency, and a gentle touch, Yankee has the potential to blossom into a loving companion. He just needs someone willing to take the journey with him.Before being rescued, many of our dogs had limited socialization, so they may need some time to adjust to life as a family pet. Older kids are often a great fit for dogs like Yankee, and homes with younger children will be considered based on each dog’s individual needs. Skills like house training and leash walking may take a little extra patience and practice. However, with time and a gentle approach, most of these dogs adapt quickly.
