My story

Scout is the kind of dog who makes an impression right away—with his wagging tail, gentle eyes, and love for both people and pups. He’s a friendly, social boy who thrives on connection and fun. In playgroup, Scout was the life of the party—offering play bows, chasing games, and tail wags with both male and female dogs. He had loose, happy body language, was tolerant and easygoing, and played well in a group setting. Scout is easy to leash and excited to explore. Once outside, he showed his affectionate side—leaning into his handler, taking treats gently, and showing off his “sit.” If you’re looking for a fun-loving, affectionate pup who’s great with other dogs and deeply tuned in to his people, Scout’s your guy. He’s ready to chase toys, soak up snuggles, and be your loyal sidekick for life. He loved every dog and person he met. Scout is a mellow guy that helped break a more nervous dog out of his shell. He'll lean against people for pets, sits for treats, and is great on leash. 04/16/2025 staff notes, playgroup: Scout did really well in playgroup today with both males and females, lots of play bows and playing chase, loose body language, tolerant, tail wags. Was occasionally barrier reactive towards incoming new dogs at gate but was easily corrected. 04/16/2025 volunteer notes: Eval: Easy to pull from the kennel, when I approached he was at the front, stress panting with drool down his neck. Soft eyes, takes treats gently. Pulled moderately to get outside. He was affiliative and social to the handler, knows sit. I was able to touch him all over his body while he remained with ears back, soft eyes, tail down and wagging, loose body. He played with a plush toy and was unfazed when I touched the toy and pet him while he played. Dog meet with Pumpkin through the fence. He approached with ears forward, tail middle. He was hesitant to remain at the fence and took some steps back and vocalized, then moving to touch the handler's leg with his body. We did not have them meet on leash due to Scout's behavior, as we did not want to overwhelm him since he is so new and Pumpkin is a lot of dog! He was easy to return to kennel 04/14/2025 staff notes, intake: both dogs appear very friendly and allow most forms of handling. Both dogs up here bonded, and stay close to each other at all times and worry for each other as well. Dogs both appear to like car rides and were placed in truck without muzzle.
