This pet needs emergency placement. Please click here to go to our emergency placement page for more information.Kenny is on the at-risk list due to behavior. He is not thriving in the care center and continues to display distance-increasing behavior when approached for interactions. She/He has not warmed up despite staff using treats to build a positive association. Due to his stress levels, it is in his best interest to move out of the kennel environment and into a stable home as quickly as possible. He would do best in a home with adopters who are willing to give him plenty of time and space to adjust, and who have experience with helping a fearful cat adjust to strangers. What my friends at ACC say about me:My history is a mystery and my friends here do not know much about me yet!Kenny is an adult cat that may not have had many interactions with humans from an early age. He is apprehensive of people and while showing no aggressive behaviors, he does attempt to flee or avoid human contact. It is difficult to predict if he will respond to socialization but we recommend offering high value treats and food to help build a positive association to humans. Please be mindful that older cats will require more time and skill in order for them to be comfortable around people. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.A volunteer writes: Kenny has asked us for a little guide on how to do and how to be. We only wish we had one to offer. He came to us from a home with many other cats and his efforts to navigate Care Center life have left him a little stumped. He prefers to keep to his den, which doesn't offer him many chances to meet new people and though he seems to like it that way, he could probably use the practice. This is especially true because he likely hasn't had many opportunities to meet new people and isn't always sure what to make of us. When we try to say hello and offer our friendship, Kenny tends to grumble as he makes himself as small as he possibly can. Kenny's hoping to find a patient and loving home where he can learn how to be the best cat he can be. Primary Color: Brown Tabby Weight: 8.3125 Age: 2yrs 3mths 0wks
