My story

Zoey is a nine pound, 2 year old poodle and possibly schnauzer mix. She is a non shedding dog that will need regular brushing and hair cuts to keep her coat looking great. She came into a shelter as a stray and was matted and had to be given a pretty short hair cut. She needs a home that is willing and able to care for her poodle coat with regular brushing and hair cuts. She is working on building confidence in new situations, but is very friendly and affectionate once she feels safe. She is gaining confidence every day and will thrive in a good home. She loves toys and other dogs but may be best as an only dog because she prefers not to share her people. We don't have a cat, but I think she could do well with a proper introduction and some training. She gets along well with the adults in the home, but the visiting eight year old grandchild is a little too much for her. She moves too fast and can be loud, which makes Zoey nervous. She will do best in a home with kids over the age of 12. She is being crate trained and we recommend continuing that to become fully house broken. At this point she relieves herself outside as long as she is let out often enough. She needs to learn to ask to be let out. She may have had a dog door in a previous home. She walks ok on a leash and will be a good walking companion. If you think you are up for the commitment of training this adorable dog please submit an application for adoption. She is ready to to go to a new home now. Please note, if you don't receive a return call within a few days, assume Zoey has found her forever home.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Zoey, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
