My story

Meet Jackie! In March, Jackie lost her dad to cancer and ended up at Santa Barbara Animal County Services (SBACS). He had no kids of his own, so Jackie and his two other dogs were his babies, and he was so sad in his final days knowing they would be without him. Jackie's buddies have since been adopted, and now it's her turn! She recently return from a Frosted Fling, where we learned what she is like in a home. (Hint: she's a loving, well-behaved, and fun companion!) Her Fling Mom reports: "Jackie is a sweet little lady with a gentle personality. She loves to cuddle on the sofa and to sleep in bed and snuggle up close to you under the covers. Jackie is mellow but still has a lot of energy. It goes in bursts - when we're at the dog park, she will start sprinting! She will also get zoomies at home and run around the kitchen island. She will also occasionally play with toys. Jackie does great on walks and has the stamina and energy for a 2 mile walk. She loves going on at least one walk a day. She really loves hanging out in the backyard with me and being in the fresh air. She loves going on outings and exploring new places. Jackie is great will all people of all ages. She's happy to say hi and be petted. She is also great with other dogs, curious and happy to sniff them. On leash, she doesn't pull or react when we walk past other dogs on walks. As for my cats... Jackie was very curious and briefly chased them at first. But after a short time, she ignored the cats and even napped with one on the sofa! Jackie does "sing" a bit when I leave the house to express displeasure for being left, but will typically stop within a few minutes. Jackie loves going on adventures - whether you're running errands or going to the beach! She loves car rides and is great in the car. She enjoys looking out the window to check things out.
