My story

Meet Caramel! This adorable, brindle-coated 50 lb. dog has a zest for life and a heart of gold! This sweet girl loves toys—fetch, tug, you name it—and she’s happiest when splashing in a kiddie pool or romping around with her dog friends. She`s loves to have lots of outdoor time, and her past caretakers describe her as “a bright-eyed companion for a lively life.” Caramel can be a little shy in new situations and may take a moment to warm up, but once she does, she’s all about cuddles and connection. She`s eager to please, knows how to “sit,” and walks well on a leash. At mealtime, she prefers a little personal space—she’s not one to share her snacks, and she appreciates being left to dine in peace (don’t we all?). Caramel would thrive in an active home where she can continue learning, exploring, and being her fun-loving self! If you have other dogs at home, we recommend a doggie meet-and-greet at the shelter to help ensure it’s a good match for everyone! Come meet Caramel today!This pet is eligible for an Adoption Audition! What is an Adoption Audition? It’s a 5-day, no-strings-attached, trial adoption period. You can take this pet home to try it out! Interested? Come to the shelter any time during open hours and talk to one of our Customer Care staff!If you`d like to meet our available animals, please check the `shelter information` box on the listing to see if the pet is located at our Fairfax Campus (4500 West Ox Road, Fairfax) or our Lorton Campus (8875 Lorton Road, Lorton). Then, come in during our open hours!
