Meet Jay ACCT-A-217357! Jay is a 4-year-old male who was brought in by animal protection officers as a stray on 4/12. Videos: Jay barking at his own shadow! https://youtube.com/shorts/25EF9rMY_j4?feature=share Newman Meets Jay: https://youtu.be/dTaqwhNI46I Behavior Notes: Per volunteer 4/27/25: Fun guy! Had a really nice fence meet with Thessia. Jay had me laughing as he was barking at his own shadow! (see video!) Per staff 4/16: “Took Jay out for a dog meet, he was very easy to leash, walks great, jumped on my lap for pets, allowed all handling, took treats gently. He has a lot of energy and was very excited to meet the other dog. Would make a great running partner!” Per staff 4/15: “Took Jay out for evaluation, no issues in crate, was easy to leash, went for walk, allowed pets, jumped in my lap and handled all handling.” Per staff 4/15: “Unable to check dog is due to behaviors such as hard barking followed by lunging at the front of the cage.” Per staff 4/14: “Unable to complete intake due to behavior. When attempting to remove from the crate pt was growling, barking, and eventually lunging at the walls of the crate. Decided to give him more time.” Per staff 4/12: “PT came in with his tail tuck, yawing, lip licking. When nurse went to scan for a chip, PT try to nip.” Per APO 4/12: “Dog seem scared as officer attempted to leash it, dog was barking at officers, resisted as it was be to van, also whimpering, must be handled with caution.” Medical Notes: On 4/22: Pneumovirus Positive Per staff on 4/18: “This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold". They have been started on medication, and will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection. They will need a veterinarian to examine them before they receive surgery, if they are not already altered.” Plan: doxycycline 10mg/kg SID x 14 days per Dr orders Per an exam on 4/16: “Pt was BAR, very anxious, did not like too much handling. -Did not allow ears to be examined -Appears healthy -Unable to microchip due to behavior” ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in Philadelphia.
