My story

What my friends at ACC say about me:Cheek and chin scratches make me so happy!I am a cat that is in need of a lap! I can't wait to be your new lap cat.I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.I'm sensitive and shy. I'll need extra help from you.I would do best in a home with only adult humans.I have lived with cats at ACC and I'm doing well with them in the Free Roaming Room, so I would likely do well in a multi-cat home.Oreo appreciates attention and petting but may show signs of overstimulation, and may be intimidated by small children. She may be a little more independent at times, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center and reported in the previous home, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.A volunteer writes: Seen waiting outside a school for about a week, Oreo was aptly named by the students. Inspired by learning and basking in the glow of her new name, she also took this as her cue to join in. Oreo's a quick learner, so she politely raised her paw to ask if anyone had seen her forever family. The students looked to their teachers who weren't sure of the answer themselves, but knew exactly where to go for one. Now that she's here, Oreo curls up in her cubby and continues to wait, but oh, how she brightens with visitors. She noticed me admiring her little cat circle and came right out, sitting proudly and hopefully for cuddles. Twirling herself into my arms like a studied professional, Oreo explained she's really still learning herself and is specifically interested in forever families.
