My story

Dogs: Yes, would benefit from a confident dog friendCats: UnknownKids: Yes, 8+Dwight is a goofy Catahoula Leopard mix with a heart full of potential and legs made for adventure. Just over a year old, he lives for splashing through creeks and racing his dog friends around the yard, but don’t let that fool you into thinking he is a water lover across the board. When we brought out a baby pool, Dwight wanted nothing to do with it. He is a natural explorer, just with very specific taste. He absolutely lights up around other dogs, and while it is not required, we think he would thrive in a home with a confident canine buddy to help show him the ropes and remind him the world is not such a scary place. Dwight originally arrived as a stray and can be unsure in new environments, especially with loud noises, sudden movements, or unfamiliar people. But with slow introductions and gentle, consistent handling, he is learning that trust is worth the wait. Once you are in his circle, Dwight is friendly, playful, and downright silly. He is crate trained, food motivated, and working hard on his leash skills. With continued positive reinforcement, he is already making progress and would benefit from adopters who enjoy helping a sensitive dog build confidence at his own pace. Stranger introductions will need to be slow and thoughtful, but Dwight’s fans will tell you he is absolutely worth it.Dwight may be a little unsure at first, but once he opens up, he is full of love and loyalty. Come meet him, take it slow, and see if this sweet, sensitive guy is the missing piece in your home!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dwight, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
