My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, May 3rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $650   Pippi Longstocking is a mellow 5 year old Westie x Yorkie mix who weighs 10 pounds. Named after the quirky and independent character, Pippi embodies a calm, loving, and sweet nature, making her a perfect companion for someone who enjoys a laid-back lifestyle. She is a true couch potato, preferring to relax and snuggle rather than engage in high-energy activities. Pippi was rescued from Central Valley and we promised the good citizen who rescued her that we would find her perfect forever home. This petite gal is ready to start her second chance in style and hopes you will be her forever after! Pippi is incredibly sweet and loving She will warm your heart with her gentle pawing for extra pets and her calm, affectionate demeanor. Pippi would thrive in a home where she can hang out with another dog as well as her humans. If you’re looking for a low-energy, loving, and sweet dog who just wants to be by your side, Pippi Longstocking is the perfect match for you! Pippi isn’t much for the outdoors and is more than content to stay indoors. While she enjoys her walks, she is not overly energetic and would rather nap or be close to her humans. Her favorite thing is being showered with attention. If you stop petting her, she will gently paw at your arm as if to say, “Please, just a little more.” This sweet behavior is one of the many things that make Pippi so lovable. She’s also not particularly interested in food—kibble doesn’t excite her, and she could take or leave most snacks—but she absolutely loves wet dog food, which is her favorite treat. Pippi’s daily routine starts early, with a bathroom break at 6 am, followed by a relaxed morning. She enjoys lounging and resting around the house, letting herself out through the doggie door when needed. Around 8 am, she enjoys a cup of wet dog food, then resumes her relaxation until her second meal at 2 pm. After her second meal, she continues to snooze and lounge for the rest of the day, only waking up for a short evening walk around 6 pm. Pippi is not overly excited about walks, but she does enjoy meeting other dogs and sniffing around. After her walk, she settles back down to sleep, and she gets a final bathroom break at 10 pm before going to bed. Though she enjoys being with people and other dogs, Pippi isn’t particularly playful. She’s not interested in toys or chasing squirrels, and she rarely barks. Pippi is the perfect companion for someone who works from home or a family where someone is around most of the time. Pippi gets along well with other dogs, though she is more of a co-exister than a player. She also loves meeting new people, and when she’s out at the park, she thrives on the attention she receives, often making it hard for her foster to leave! Pippi would be a great match for a home looking for a second (or third!) dog to join the pack. She's a cuddle bug who would love to be your WFH buddy. She's a low maintenance gal who is just looking for lots of love!    May 2, 2025, 4:51 am
