My story

Please contact Paul Slebzak (pauls@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.sweet mama ready for her own family! WEDNESDAY NEEDS A FOREVER HOME!!!! Come meet Wednesday and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (05/04) from 12-3 pm at the PetSmart in Alexandria, VA (3351 Richmond Hwy, Alexandria, VA 22305)!   Name:   Wednesday        Best Guess for Breed:   Lab and terrier mix   Best Guess for Age:   2 years as of February 2025      SEX:  Female   Approximate Weight:  40 lbs   Gets Along With:   Other dogs! We haven't seen her with kids or cats but she can be tested if you have them.   Currently Living at:    DC area foster home.   Special Adoption Considerations: Because Wednesday is shy, she needs to go to a home with a confident, welcoming resident dog who will show her the ropes   Wednesday is Looking For:  Her forever home! This Very Good Girl was nursing six puppies, Wally, Wanda, Whitney, Wren, Wrigley, and Wyatt when she arrived into our care. She raised them to be amazing family pets and they went off to get their own homes. Now Wednesday is eager to get her own humans. Long sniffy walks, romps in parks, trips to new destinations - she wants it all, please! Most of all, she wants to give love and be loved. She promises adoring gazes and happy tail wags and loyal companionship for all her days (not just one day a week). What do you say? Does she get her fresh start with you?    What My Foster Says About Me:    Wednesday’s tail is constantly wagging! She’s the happiest, wiggliest dog, and even tap dances when she’s excited. Wednesday is very playful and absolutely loves wrestling and chasing with other dogs at the dog park, and is excellent at reading other dogs’ cues, matching their play styles, and backing off when they’re no longer interested. At home, she’s a couch potato, and likes to snooze wherever I am in the house. She sleeps well in her crate at night and when I leave the house, and I’ve only heard her bark when she’s trying to entice another dog to play. She’s a champ at going potty outside. Loud noises can be scary for Wednesday, but she’s doing increasingly well with city noises in DC, and is especially great on familiar walking routes (she loves a good sniffy walk). It’s clear she’s gaining confidence and getting braver each day, especially as she gets more comfortable with her surroundings and when she’s with another confident dog. Wednesday is extremely food motivated and learns new commands quickly, which is also seeming to boost her confidence.   Medical: Wednesday is a truly Lucky Dog! She tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. That said, we cannot make any guarantees about age, breed or temperament.   Thank you for contacting Lucky Dog Animal Rescue and helping to save a life!  Please visit us online at    www.luckydoganimalrescue.org   .    BE A FOSTER!!!    Fosters make it possible for Lucky Dog Animal Rescue to save and care for homeless and abandoned dogs!  To learn about fostering, please contact    fostering@luckydoganimalrescue.org   ! BE A SPONSOR!!!!    Sponsors help Lucky Dog support the many dogs we save.  To learn more about sponsorship, please contact   info@luckydoganimalrescue.org   . May 27, 2025, 7:12 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Wednesday, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
