My story

Hero that will steal your heart faster than you can say “fetch”! Hero, the sweet Pittie, is 70 pounds of pure love wrapped in a fur coat. This gentle giant has a PhD in lap-sitting and will convince you that he’s actually a lapdog. Don’t let his size fool you - he’s as peppy and playful as his smaller friends. Here's some notes from Hero's foster: Hero is one of the sweetest, most loving dogs I've fostered. The adjectives I'd use to describe him are affectionate, happy, and friend-to-all. Hero seems to have never met an enemy. Hero came to Muttville after being surrendered by his guardian (and saved by the SFFD when their home burnt down!) Due to his condition and temperament, I believe he was a beloved family pet. Hero loves all people and dogs, big and small. He handles himself like an absolute gentleman. He wants nothing more than to cuddle with you, get pets, and give kisses. He will be your #1 fan, president of your fan club, and talk about how much he loves you to anyone who will listen. He's a handsome boy who is loyal and dedicated to his people (and frankly, anyone who may say hello!) Hero is what they call a stage-five clinger. He LOVES to snuggle against his people. The more cuddling, the better! Hero's mobility is excellent for his age. He jumps on the bed and couch without assistance. He can do stairs but would probably rather not have to do more than 3-4 regularly. Hero would do best in a home with access to a backyard or area, as he likes to take frequent potty breaks. He knows basic commands like sit and shake. We are working on "stay". Hero loves his meals—eating morning and night happily. He has shown no signs of guarding his meals, toys, or people. He's such a lovey! He walks well on a leash and enjoys daily walks for all the smells and possible encounters with new friends. He takes it slow, not because he can't trot along, just because he pauses at noises for a chance encounter with another dog or person. He also loves to linger and smell the air around him. Hero likes other dogs and had another small dog in the home with him before his time at Muttville. He's encountered some wiggly, no-boundaries puppies and loves them instantly! He doesn't care for snappy dogs (who does?) Hero has been around kids who took turns walking him around the park. He's a gentle giant who just wants love and attention. He would be a great kid dog! Hero had some anxiety riding in my car for the first few times, but he gets better with each ride. This weekend, he fell asleep during our drive. He'll be great in the car with a few more trips. He just loves the action! Hero will thrive in a variety of homes with one or more people who want to bring in a 70-lb fan club on four paws. He is low-key and friendly, a true character of a dog!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Hero 12807, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
