My story

Joy came from ACCT Philly Deathrow in Nov 2024, she was found stray on the streets! When she came into our care she had a horrible battle with pneumonia! We got her healthy and she was adopted! A week later we were contacted by her owners who stated Joy was having neurological episodes and they refused to seek medical care! We immediately got Joy back and begin medical care! Joy would have “episodes” where she would lose the use of her hind legs! We did bloodwork, X-rays, numerous tests all of which came back normal! She has had ZERO episodes in over a month!! We still have no definite diagnoses but Doc Bryan is leaning towards paroxysmal dyskinesia, there is no testing or treatment for this other than loving her thru an occasional episode! If the episodes do arise again we will consult with neurology at Cornell!! We would love to find Joy her forever home!! This girl is as sweet as can be and deserves a family to love her!! She is around 3-4 years old!! House trained! Spayed! Up to date on vaccines & microchipped!! When joy originally came to us she had mild food guarding but has done really well with that!! I would recommend if there is children in the home to feed her separately as a precaution! Joy loves everyone she is great with other dogs! She’s Unsure about cats appears more curious about them! She is a snuggle bug and loves attention!! Interested in Meeting Joy? Complete our adoption application and we will contact you!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Joy, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
