My story

“Sweet” isn’t a word typically used to describe dogs, but it’s the perfect fit for Zoe. This easygoing, affectionate, and funny boy makes a wonderful companion. Zoe`s ideal day includes spending time with people, playing with a canine friend, and taking naps with his humans. He loves to snuggle and enjoys relaxing on a sunny deck. A securely fenced yard is a must for him.Zoe currently lives peacefully with two indoor-only cats, including one he often sleeps beside at night. He also enjoys daily playtime with his foster cousin, a Rat Terrier. He knows basic commands and is highly food motivated.Zoe has been loved in two previous homes. He arrived at KCPP in January after his second owner could no longer afford veterinary care following a car accident that resulted in a pelvic fracture. When his first owner learned Zoe was at KCPP, he reached out with puppy pictures, his birthdate, and shared that Zoe (then known as Chico) was rehomed as a puppy because the household’s older dog was aggressive toward him. Zoe also had positive interactions with young children in his first home. His pelvic injury is healing well, and he’s notably stronger than just a month ago. He enjoys wrestling and chasing games with the Rat Terrier, though activities that require jumping or aerial moves (like Frisbee) should be avoided.Zoe is calm and well-mannered in public. He walks nicely on leash, enjoys meeting new people, shows moderate interest in other dogs, and often lies down when not actively walking. He naps during car rides and generally stays relaxed. At home, Zoe likes to keep his humans in sight. He has some difficulty tracking sounds, but handles free roam in the house well—both during the day (up to 6–7 hours alone) and overnight. He reliably goes outside before bed and has not had accidents. If Zoe sounds like a good match, there’s more to share! Zoe has been neutered, vaccinated and microchipped.Zoe is living in a foster home. If you would like to meet him, please email foster@kcpetproject.orgZoe`s ADOPTION FEE IS WAIVED! We want all our dogs to have homes as quickly as possible. In an effort to help dogs with longer stays, those who are deteriorating in the shelter environment, or who are harder to place find homes more quickly, the adoption fee for this dog has been waived.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Zoe, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
