Roxane

My story

For over a year this beautiful, loving and affectionate meatball has been with us without a furever home to call her own. We are so hopeful we can see her off to her happily ever after. Longtime fans and frens will know that we rarely take larger dogs. Roxane is one of those pups who deserves the world, but hasn’t gotten a fair deal in the past. We are happy to love on this big lug as long as needed, but we welcome any application who are looking for a squishy face and cuddle bug! When we rescued this girl, she was accompanied by this letter from someone at the shelter: “Dear Roxane, Please accept this letter of complete adoration and the promise that comes with it. I know you are sad, and I know you are uncomfortable. I also know you are resilient, and I know you are strong. While you sit so patiently in your kennel window looking out for someone to see you and maybe even come by to say hello to you, I have heard the people walking by say you are ugly. I have heard it more than once. It crushed my heart, more than once. I truly believe you feel that negative energy and it stresses you, which is not conducive to healing. Roxanne, I know you trust me so trust me when I tell you YOU ARE BEAUTIFUL inside and outside. I will keep reminding you of this every day when we have our 6pm walk-n-chat (and cuddle). If they only knew. If they would just give you a chance. They would find out that you absolutely love every person you meet, that you offer yourself gently to be pet and loved on. They would see that you love nothing more in this world than to try to climb into a lap and gaze endlessly into someone’s eyes. And you kinda fit in a lap too, for the mini-chunk you are. We are looking for a Rescue option for you- the best way to heal is outside the shelter where you can get more sunshine and maybe even a couch to nap on. Please be patient while we search for help for you- don’t give up. I will not give up on you. We will let the rescue know about the special diet you are currently on for the skin allergies you may have. They will know to take you to see a dermatologist too. We won’t have to instruct on the love part, there will be no question you’ll be loved. So please hang in there. I will see you for our walk tomorrow and we will take that walk every day until I walk you right out of this building to Rescue. Love, Me” The most touching letter we have ever read from a shelter worker to a miserable pup. The love is palpable and we will work to continue to shower her with so much love.
