My story

Meet Bentley! This sweet gentleman is the full package: affectionate, eager to please, and charming in that slightly dramatic, deeply lovable way only senior dogs can pull off. Bentley is a big fan of belly rubs, yard zoomies, and snuggling up with his people for a quiet evening. He's never met a stranger and greets people with full-body tail wags that will melt your heart. Bentley adores people and follows his foster parents from room to room like a loyal sidekick. He thinks he’s a lapdog despite his size and has zero concept of personal space (in the best way). He’s crate-trained and takes Reconcile (fluoxetine) daily to help with anxiety and the busy Haven environment. Bentley isn't big on riding in the car but loves going on short walks (about 20 minutes). He’s healthy, housebroken, and ready to settle into his forever routine with someone who gets him - ideally in a calm, quiet home. He’s a no on cats (he insists they started it), and would do best in a home without young kids. Bentley generally gets along with other dogs and can be playful with the right match, but he does require some management. He has a history of resource guarding and would probably thrive as the only dog in the home. He likely didn’t get much socialization in his past, but he’s come a long way, and we’re so proud of how much he’s learned. Bentley just wants to be near his people and will thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time to shower him with love and attention and keep working with him on his training. He doesn’t ask for much - just love, structure, and a soft place to land. We know his person is out there waiting to meet him! Bentley is approximately 8 years old and 30 lbs. Fostered in Rockville, MD Please apply at MirisHaven.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bentley, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
