My story

Dog Name: Zebra Cakes Breed: mixed Sex: Male Age: 7 years Weight: 10 lbs Medical Needs: none Housebroken: yes, does great with a schedule. Crate trained: his crate is his safe space Good in the car: uhhh. No. The car is part of the outside world, and contrary to the little mermaid, he does NOT want to be where the people are. Good on a leash: that leash is a tricksy thing that cannot be trusted. Zebra Cakes will let us clip it to his collar, and after that he just freezes. Energy level: medium Need a fenced in yard: YES. He will not be adopted out to someone unless they have a securely fenced-in yard that does not have any escape holes for a 10 lb dog. Dog Friendly: yes, he loves other dogs. If yes, does your foster need another dog in its adoptive homes? YES. His fellow fluffy friends keep him playful and as carefree as a chihuahua can be. Cat Friendly: yes, he loves his cat friends. Until they swat at his wagging tail. Then he wants them to go fluff off. Kid Friendly: no If yes, what's the youngest child you'd recommend they be placed with? Although some people might think that children can be demons, Zebra Cakes doesn’t appreciate kindred spirits, or the loud noises and chaos that comes with them. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Zebra Cakes came from what is most easily described as a hoarding/neglect situation. Shoved in a pen with a number of chihuahua/terrier friends, he didn’t even show his face to the rescuers that took him off the property last summer. It’s taken a lot of time and patience to get him where he is now: a small chihuahua that doesn’t like being touched by people but will twirl and wag his tail for food, sunshine, and playing with his foster friends. Before you apply for Zebra Cakes here’s a few things to know about him: - he prefers not to be touched. If you’re looking for an affectionate demon dog, keep looking. - He WILL NOT POTTY on the leash. So you’ll have to prepare a little pen for him outside, in your securely fenced-in yard. - He loves to be a barky, bouncy little ball of half-feral chihuahua energy. And since he’s happy, we’re letting him live his best life while we push him a little each day. If you have enough experience and time to watch Zeebs blossom even more, submit your resumes (aka application) below Fosters Location: Dover, DE Application can be found here: https://www.grrde.org/adoption-application (if you already have an approved application on file, email GrassRootsDE@gmail.com and ask the app team to pull your app) ##2175514##

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Zebra Cakes, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
