My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee. This dog will be at Palo Alto Pet Food Express on Saturday, May 3rd from 12-3pm or until adopted. If you would like the first opportunity to adopt, please fill out an application to be considered.   Adoption Fee: $700   Meet Cheeto — A Little Puff of Love with a Whole Lot of Heart   Cheeto might be the last of her litter still looking for a forever home, but trust us— we've been saving the best for last. This 4–5 month old pup is the perfect combination of cuddly, clever, and just a little spicy in all the right ways. She’s got the kind of warmth that wraps around you like a cozy blanket… and the kind of spark that keeps you smiling all day.   Cheeto starts her mornings bright and early at 6:30 AM and keeps a relaxed, balanced rhythm throughout the day. She eats every five hours (with a final meal around 8 PM), and spends her time playing with her much-bigger sheepadoodle foster sibling in the backyard, watching the world go by from a sunny window perch, and shadowing her foster mom around the house like the world’s cutest little assistant. She’s free-roaming indoors, puppy pad trained, and rarely has accidents—already showing great house manners for her age.   At night, Cheeto sleeps peacefully next to her foster dad, either in her crate or curled up by his side. She’s not crated during the day, as she’s proven herself to be a calm and well-behaved housemate. She’s also developing a sweet balance of confidence and independence—eager to engage and play, but just as content relaxing quietly on her own.   When Cheeto first arrived, she was cautious and reserved, taking time to observe her surroundings. But in just days, she’s blossomed into a joyful, affectionate little explorer. She’s still gentle and a tiny bit shy at first with new people, but once she trusts you, get ready for the full effect—tail wags, surprise snuggles, and the kind of puppy kisses that could soften the grumpiest Monday. She gives cuddles like they’re her superpower.   Social and smart, Cheeto plays beautifully with her much larger foster sibling, using clever moves and quick thinking to keep up in the game. She hasn’t met cats or kids yet, but her gentle temperament and thoughtful energy suggest she could be a great fit with respectful, dog-savvy children. She hasn't started formal leash training yet, but she's curious, observant, and gaining confidence with each passing day.   Cheeto doesn’t bark much, but she’ll let you know if something unusual catches her eye—like a neighborhood cat or a squirrel sprinting across the fence. She doesn’t chew destructively, hasn’t shown interest in digging, and prefers twigs and nature’s toys over your shoes or furniture.   Her ideal home? One with people around part of the day, a comfy spot by a window, and lots of love. A playful dog companion would be a bonus, but Cheeto would also thrive as the only pup in a home that offers her gentle guidance and room to grow.   What makes Cheeto truly special is how intentional and sweet she is—she doesn’t just cuddle, she connects. She senses moods, offers warmth when it’s needed most, and always seems to choose just the right moment to curl up in your lap. She’s the kind of pup who will quietly change your life with her love.   If you’re ready for a smart, soulful, and incredibly lovable companion, Cheeto is waiting—and she’s more than worth the wait.May 18, 2025, 1:37 pm
